Double Cut came about from the meeting of Tino Tracanna and Massimiliano Milesi in the Jazz Department of the Milan Conservatory. The generational juxtaposition of Milesi and Tracanna acts as a catalyst for the different visions, ideas and musical experiences of the members of the group, giving rise to a project that includes elements belonging to different musical worlds.Their musical thinking moves freely between reworking of Jazz classics, through to popular evocations and original pieces to form the backdrop for improvisations free from stylistic affiliations.
Tino Tracanna was part of the Franco D’Andrea Quartet from the early 80s to the 90s. Since 1983 he has been part of the Paolo Fresu Quartet with whom he has won numerous awards. He has an abundance of record projects to his credit and more than a hundred recordings made as a soloist.
Massimiliano Milesi is a member of the contemporary Giovanni Falzone Orchestra and founder of the RES Collective. Since 2014 he has been a member of the European orchestra of Wayne Horvitz. He has been included in the Top Jazz New Talents chart by Musica Jazz magazine.
Giulio Corini is considered one of the most interesting improvisers of the new Italian jazz scene Since 2007 Filippo Sala has been part of the percussion group Dadadang in movement, with which he has performed in various European cities. He is a founding member of the RES Collective.
