Festa ta Mont
Two days in Val San Nicolò to celebrate the Ladin myths with typical food, shows and musical entertainments
It’s one of the most appreciated summer events, scheduled between 2nd and 4th August in the valley of Val San Nicolò and in Pozza. "Festa ta Mont" celebrates the Ladin costumes and traditions, with a 3 day programme rich in appointments. Everything starts on Friday night at 9.00 p.m., with the traditional parade of the volunteers’ groups and of the "Musega da Poza" brass band from the square Piaza de Sèn Nicolò along Strada de Meida. Afterwards the presentation of the feast takes place with music entertainment by the events pavillion.
The feast goes on and heats up on Saturday and Sunday, in the breathtaking Val San Nicolò, with areas dedicated to life at altitude, exhibitionscultural events and theatrical shows. In the "Art village" it is possible to see carvers, painters and drawers at work and, furthermore, have fun with musch music, dances, grass-skiing and tastings. In fact, about 20 stands offer local specialties, from the meat to the traditional ladin desserts, the so-called "fortaes".
"Festa ta Mont" is dedicated to children too, with a huge number of activities: art and craft workshops, dives in the hay, a zip line, photo-sessions and pony tours.
On the occasion of "Festa ta Mont" (on August 3 and 4) Val San Nicolò is closed to the traffic: it can be reached on foot from Pozza (it is possible to take part in guided excursions) or by shuttle bus, departing from "Vidor". Dogs are admitted, as long as they wear their muzzle. Free parking, return ticket from "Vidor" to "Saùch" car park in Val San Nicolò Euro 3,50.
The "Speedy train" offers a free transport service from the town-centre of Pozza along Strada de Meida to the departure of the shuttle busses for the whole day. Otherwise, a bus service is also available from Pera, Pozza and Vigo to "Vidor". Saturday from 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. and Sunday from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. The bus stops are signalled through the feast’s logo.
