Dolomiti Ski Jazz - The Hi-Stakes
The 25th edition of Dolomiti Ski Jazz starts at the Hotel Bellavista in Pecol (Canazei) with a concert by the Dutch band "The Hi-Stakes"
From 4th to 12th March, the "jazz track" crosses the valleys of Fassa and Fiemme with concerts on the terraces of the refuges, in clubs, theatres and squares.
From Canazei to Cavalese, all the way to Cembra: the Dolomiti Ski Jazz, scheduled from 4th to 12th March, expands again this year offering as many as 25 concerts. Warm rhythms such as jazz, but also blues, funk and Latin music will create thrilling contrasts with the snow-covered scenery of the Dolomites. Artists from the international scene will perform in the evenings in the clubs and theatres of the villages, while during the day they will take to the mountains, on the terraces of the mountain huts, some of which can also be reached by non-skiers. The festival will move day after day from one slope to another, from the Belvedere ski area in Canazei to the Alpe Cermis in Cavalese.
Dolomiti Ski Jazz: The Hi-Stakes. Hotel Bellavista - Canazei (Pecol), Friday 3 March at 12.00 p.m.
Programme: The Hi-Stakes is a quintet of international musicians based in Amsterdam. The band makes the audience dance with Rhythm and Blues inspired by Louis Jordan, make them dream with the sweet and sincere sound of Blues Ballads - following in the wake of Percy Mayfield, and scream with Jazz-Blues similar to early Ray Charles. Original songs, full of irony and passion, played with authenticity across the vast multiplicity of musical genres present in the 1950s and 1960s, from lyrical blues ballads to explosive rhythm 'n' blues; in other words, their (entirely original) repertoire encompasses everything between the blues and jazz worlds. One of the aspects that sets them apart is the writing of lyrics in a modern key, revisiting the values of the 1950s. Their motto could be translated as "Yes to vintage style, no to vintage values". The Hi-Stakes are Italian Sam Ghezzi on vocals and tenor saxophone, Dutchman Gideon Tazelaar on tenor saxophone, German Linus Eppinger on guitar, Mexican Cesar Puente on double bass and Israeli Joe Korach on drums. The special combination of two tenor saxophones as the wind section brings out their specific timbre and sound in a unique and distinctive way.
Music band: Sam Ghezzi (vocals and tenor sax), Ben Fitzpatrick (tenor sax), Linus Eppinger (guitar and banjo), Cesar Puente (bass), Joe Korach (drums).
The concert is free of charge. The event location is also accessible to non-skiers. The ticket for the ski lifts (cabin lift) is paid for by the participants. The ski pass is valid.
