Dinosaurs in flesh and bone
Rovereto occupied by Tyrannosaurus, Raptors and Mammoths
An itinerant prehistoric exhibition with the giant dinosaurs of the Mesozoic era and other extincted animals from the Paleozoic era to nowadays.
The city of Rovereto has always been considered an important reference point for all Italian paleontologists due to its rich fossil heritage and the paleontologic site in Lavini di Marco area. To spread the knowledge of dinosaurs and their footsteps in Lavini di Marco area, an exhibition with more than 30 realistic natural size dinosaurs models has been organized at the ex nursery school of Manifattura in Borgo Sacco district. Some examples? Diplodocus, the feared T-rex but also many prehistoric mammals such as Mammoths, the saber-toothed tiger and the giant sloth. The creator of these models is the Veneto region based company Geomodel that is used to use natural and synthetic modern materials such as resin, fiberglass, silicone, rubber, latex and modeling clay. You can admire the models, retrace the history of these majestic creatures and of the main local paleontologic discoveries though molds, video clips and photos. You will attend to the "behind the scenes" of the exhibition preparation and learn something more about all those species that recently disappear from the planet due to the biodiversity loss. In addition to the exhibition, many events and educational activities for dinosaurs lovers, families and schools to learn, while having fun, to enhance the scientific cultural heritage, to spread the knowledge of geological, biological and environmental history, recognize the actions of scientific institutes and association and reinforce the role of research. The exhibition is organized by the Italian Paleontologic Paleoartistic Association APPI and the Municipality of Rovereto, in collaboration with MUSE – Scienze Museum, the City Museum Foundation of Rovereto and Rovereto and Vallagarina Tourist Board.
