Carnival of the Alps

One of the oldest Carnivals in the Alps, with wood-masks and bright costumes

A long parade of characters with wooden masks wearing bright costumes walks from village to village to meet in the main square of Casatta.

In Casatta the Carnival ends with dances, tricks, sweets and wine. The celebration ends at night with a masked ball.

Saint-Rhémy-en-Bosses - Val d’Aosta
Alba e Penia (Val di Fassa) - Trentino
Val dei Mocheni (Fersental) - Trentino
Carnevale dei Matoci di Valfloriana - Trentino


PROGRAM

At 9.00: In Sicina, meeting and start of the masked parade
At 11.00: In Montalbiano, hot sandwiches for lunch
At 13.30: Valle and Casanova
At 15.00: Dorà
At 16.30: Villaggio, arrival at the big party tent
At 20.30: dancing with the Spritz Band

The café in the party tent opens at 14.00. The kitchen in the party tent opens at 16.00 to eat typical dishes.
