Alpine Eagle Race
The eagle challenge to raise awareness: five flights across five Alpine countries in five days
The eagle challenge to raise awareness. Equipped with a camera on his back, Victor, a white-tailed Eagle, will attempt from 3rd to 7th October (depending on weather window) a five-flight race through five Alpine countries (Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Italy, France) in only five days. A world’s first, organised by the Eagle Wings Foundation in partnership with Chopard, to raise public awareness about the consequences of climate change on the
glaciers in the Alps.
After having captivated the world with nearly 2 billion views of his flights from the top of Burj Khalifa, over Paris, London and Köln, Victor will attempt a new record: in only five days he will take off from the top of the glaciers Piz Corvatsch, Zugspitze, Dachstein, Marmolada - the only stage in Italy - and Aiguille du Midi, to reach as quickly as possible Jacques-Oliviers Travers, his falconer at the foot of the mountain.
The Alpine Eagle Race program:
- 3rd October, Piz Corvatsch (Switzerland)
- 4th October, Zugspitze (Germany)
- 5th October, Dachstein (Austria)
- 6th October, Marmolada (Italy). Takeoff from Punta Rocca (3,265 m), landing area at Fedaia Pass (2,050 m)
- 7th October, Aiguille du Midi (France)
The flight will always take place around noon. During the flight, Victor will equipped with a 360° camera that will record the increasingly visible changes in the Alpine ecosystems.
