Alpine and Cross Country Italian Ski Championships for Firefighters
More than 1000 firefighters from the whole country will compete in Val di Fassa in slalom, ski mountaineering, cross country skiing, snowboard and combined races
The Alpine and Cross Country Italian Ski Championships for Firefighters are back in Val di Fassa for their 35th edition (6th edition for snowboarding; 4th edition for ski mountaineering). 8 years after, about 1000 firefighters from all the Italian regions will compete on the slopes of the Ladin valley in the disciplines of slalom, ski mountaineering, cross-country skiing, snowboarding and combined. The base camp of the event will be the barrack in Pera (Sèn Jan di Fassa) that will also work as race office. The Ski Stadium Aloch in Pozza will host the snowboarding (January 17) and the giant slalom (January 18) competitions; Ciampedìe (Vigo) and Buffaure (Pozza) will be the location of other two giant slalom races (January 18): A night mountaineering race will take place on the slope "3-Tre" in the ski resort Campitello-Col Rodella, from Pian de Frataces (Lupo Bianco) to Rifugio Salei (January 18); on the track of the Marcialonga, from Pozza to Fontanazzo, the best cross-country skiers will compete, on a distance of 13 km (January 19). The Championships will be enliven by a rich calendar of side events, such as: the Liquigas technical meeting, the big parade of all the firefighters along the streets of Pozza; the Opening Ceremony; the Gala dinner by the Gran Tobià Taverna Teater in Canazei: a soirée of show and entertainment by the new PalaDolomites in Mazzin; the awardings and the closing ceremony.
An important event that confirms the eccelent ski offer in Val di Fassa, internationally acknowledged and appreciated, as well as the important organization of all the local corps of the voulonteer firefighters, from Canazei to Moena, to celebrate this Winter Sport feast.
