Alfonso Santimone Piano solo
The festival is ending on the 19th at the Palazzo della Magnifica Comunità in Cavalese with the piano player Alfonso Santimone, visionary artist involved with a solo piano.
Alfonso Santimone - solo piano
The solo piano is my play-room, away from my parents’ eyes.
I am completely free, I can improvise, I can referrer to my compositions or other people’s, I can freely move among all my musical and cultural loves.
I like trying to go beyond what I already know, discovering places even though I may not feel confident there, in order to develop new ideas and intuitions during my research course.
The piano is an instrument so rich in traditions, both in written music and extemporized music, that I’m intimidated when trying to press its keys.
I fell in love with all this when I was a teenager, first entering the world of jazz and improvisations, then studying its written tradition in a chaotic way.
In other words, I see myself as a composer and improviser who “uses” his piano.
When performing solo, I can sail all the sound-seas I love: free improvisation, composing, the passion for written music from the 20th century of Europe and America, Jazz tradition, electronics, music of the folk tradition, etc.…
But what fascinates me most is the attempt to define my own voice more and more, looking for an authentic feeling to share with my travel buddies: they could be next to me when generating the sound or ahead of me, listening, and turning it into something new.
