Albino Rossi | Flowers of silence
From an idea by Vittorio Sgarbi.Curated by Gabriele Lorenzoni
In the spaces of the Galleria Civica in Trento, the Mart is devoting a solo exhibition to Trentino painter Albino Rossi (1953, Val di Sole).
Around 60 works in small and very small formats, created especially for the exhibition and divided into groups and sequences. The works reflect the poetics of the artist, who from the very beginning concentrated on a poetic and never nostalgic narration of mountain life through a figurative pictorial language, with a strong recurrence of still life.
In the basement of the Galleria, the route winds its way through the characteristic fruits and flowers of the Alpine arc, with a focus on the wild vegetation of the Brenta Dolomites. The three final rooms become almost three mountain chapels, places of recollection and meditation. In his works, Rossi recalls the idea of an ancient culture, of home-making, of a widespread spirituality, of local herbal medicine. His work is thus connected to a traditional, popular, ritual religiosity.
The exhibition is part of the activities of ADAC, the Archives of Trentino Contemporary Artists, which works to enhance, promote, study and raise awareness of artistic experiences active in the area.
The exhibition is sustained by Rotari.
