Albe in malga - Malga Vael
Waking up bright and early when the sun is yet to rise. Meet the owners of an authentic mountain dairy, listen to their stories and go with them to milk the cows. Enjoy the fresh milk’s flavor, attend to the traditional cheese making and, why not, taste the curd! Let’s discover how do they make butter from cream. Go up to the pasture and learn how to distinguish the wild grasses’ spouts. Start your day with cows and animals on the mountain dairy.

Friday 10th July
2.30 p.m.-Meeting point at the Catinacciocable car in Vigo di Fassa: heading toCiampedìe, the garden of KingLaurino. Do you know his legend?
3.00 p.m.-Led by Giuliano, our alpine guide, we will experience an amazing excursion in the very heart of the Dolomites of Val di Fassa UNESCO Heritage, along the path Vial da le Feide (the sheep's route)... just to stay on topic!
6.00 p.m.-Here we are finally arrived at the RifugioRoda de Vael 2283 m! Look! Who welcomes us? Roberta with her colleagues. Just in time to enjoy the stunning view, the warm hospitality, take our place in the dormitory and then...
7.00 p.m.-Enjoy the dinner! Starting with a delicious selection of local cured meats and cheese such as the famous Cher de Fasha. You know as it's said, well begun is half done... and dulcis in fundo,the tasty ricotta cake, but not with an ordinary ricotta, the fresh one made by MalgaVael... just to break the ice!
9.00 p.m.-It's time for beddy-bye but...wait, before to lay down go outside and admire the black sky studded with millions of stars. And... if it's cloudy? Well, you can take a deep breath, and experience the clean air of the mountains.
Saturday 11th July
4.40 a.m.-Ting-a-ling! Everybody wake up, it is still dark out there but it's time to go!Just in time for a coffee on the move
5.00 a.m.-Backpack and headlamp, let's go with Giuliano: heading toMalgaVael
5.30 a.m.-Have you ever meet an herder? We did!The meeting point it's at the Mandra plateau.You bet, Renzo will be on time and above all, he won't be alone: can you hear the cowbells?
6.00 a.m.-Arrived atMalgaVael (2028 m), like a real shepherd, the cows are waiting for anything but the milking. Be honest ... you too couldn't wait for this moment right?
7.15 a.m.-With the fresh milk we follow Renzo in his little lab...are you ready to learn how to make the cheese "Vael"?The most curious ones will have the occasion to take a quick peek into Roberta's kitchen and watch her making a delicious cake. Mmhthatsmell!
8.15 a.m.-Luckily one of the most awaited moments has finally arrived: it's time to taste the breakfast of a mountain dairy with cheese, yogurt, milk, sweets, speck, eggs, fruit juice and enjoy the good company!
10.30 a.m.-Well fed,we are ready!It's time to move on andsay goodbye to MalgaVael. Led by our alpine guide, following the path n.547and crossing green pastures and woods we head back to Vigo di Fassa(about1.30/2 hours) (possibility to catch the Ciampedìe cable car in case of bad weather)

Packed- lunch (it is possible to buy it directly at the mountain dairy on the morning of 11th July): 5 eurosandwich (speck and cheese, at discretion of the dairy owners), fruits, bottle of water (1/2) liter(those who would like to have the packed lunch are kindly asked to inform us during the enrollment at the tourist office)
