Herbs-hunting on Monte baldo
How to recognize the herbs of Monte Baldo
A morning among the fragrant herbs and colorful flowers of Monte Baldo, precious treasures of this corner of Vallagarina, to discover their properties and benefits.
Did you know that in 16th Century Monte Baldo was already known throughout Europe as the Garden of Italy? Its nickname is due to the rich variety of rare plants and flowers that can be found in its fields, meadows and woods.
An expert local guide will accompany you along a nature trail to find and observe these little wild treasures: carnations, peonies and, with a bit of luck, even some orchids, as well as an infinite number of highly-scented aromatic species such as oregano, thyme and mint.
At the end of this hunt for Baldo’s treasures, you will reach the Baldensis farm to learn more about organic herbs, custodians of the scents and flavors of this mountain.
Michele, the owner, will show you the drying room, the transformation laboratory and the packaging space of the entire production process, from harvesting in the fields to the finished product: infusions, mixes of dried herbs, preparations for vegetable broth, saffron, flavored salts and much more!
At the end of the visit you will taste a delicious infusion and, if you wish, buy the products in the company shop to take a souvenir of this experience at home with you.
