Author’s recommendation
This crossing is also very picturesque. It leads to Val Contrin through the “Troi dei Ciamorces” - the chamois trail that leads to the beginning of Val Contrin near the “Baita Locia”.

Turn-by-turn directions
From the Rifugio Ciampac, you follow trail 645, which climbs in a westerly direction above the meadows that lie beneath the Crepa Neigra, a peak with a unique dark colour. You reach an ample hollow (Pian de Sele) located between the southern ridge of Crepa Neigra and the northern ridge of Sas L’Aut. In front of it, further down, you can see the green Val de Grepa. Here, you leave trail no. 645 and make a decisive turn to the left, walking towards the south along the grassy ridge, following a well-marked path. You climb along the ridge, enjoying the sweeping views, and you reach the vicinity of the Su L’Aut peak at 2506 m above sea level (the actual peak is to the right hand side of the ridge), where the view is magnificent. Following the trail south, you quickly descend to the Brunech Ridge (2428 m), where you can find the ski lift facilities. On the left, you now follow trail 644, which travels along a comfortable forest road and takes you down through Conca del Ciampac and back to the starting point.
Parking
