830 - Carbonare - Rust - Lago di Lavarone
The Mount Rust is a mountain surrounded by a beautiful mixed forest of beech and spruce. Here there are testimonies of the Great War but above all there is the romantic beauty of Lake Lavarone!
In past times the village Carbonare was called "Kankohligen" which means "to the charcoal men", that is the place inhabited by woodcutters that produced charcoal.
This trail starts from Carbonare and climb the wooded slope of Mount Rust, having as its goal the top of the mountain. Up there you will find the “Observatory”, the optical link station during the Great War, a building without a roof and with some holes in its walls. There were electric projectors in these holes that allowed the exchange of optical signals between the forts and the control stations. Look in the viewfinder. You will no longer see the fortresses but the green of the firs, which have taken the scene. Now take the mtb and pedal down the hill. As soon as you leave the forest, a surprise awaits you... the beautiful Lake Lavarone! What about a dip in this Bike Friendly lake? Bikers will be given a towel kit at the lidos.
